We live in Mexico now, My family, enjoys this place from the food to the atmosphere. Food is always Hot and tasty, Salsa is Very Good. My wife is from Mexico City and we tried every place I mean Every Mexican Joint in town, there is not one we have not been too. EL B LOCO is not the best but its very good for the price you pay. Good Quality, Great Taste, and Good Service,

We split the chicken fajitas and it was enough for 2 people and we had enough for one more meal! Everything tasted amazing! They have good daily drink and food specials as well.

I love this place but it can occasionally be hit and miss, especially depending on what you order. I generally try to stay clear of the ground beef meals as they're regularly just ok and sometimes disappointing. Everything else I've had has been great though, including the sopapillas for dessert which are served with whip cream and chocolate drizzled overtop. HUGE menu, so it's hard to imagine you can't find something here. Even the lunch menu is a pretty good size. I like the seating arrangements here as it feels more like you can get comfy and not like you need to eat and get the heck out (or pay and get the heck out) like some cheaper places. Good food and restaurant but you're paying for the atmosphere to a certain extent as you can get cheaper, just as good Mexican at a number of places in the city now. They also seem to have a varied alcohol menu, including Mexican beers, if that's you're thing.

We are big fans of El Burrito! We always come back! The restaurant is always very clean and the staff is super friendly. The food is always delivered very quickly, which is nice if you don't have a ton of time. The chips and salsa are awesome. The chips are large and we hardly get a basket that isn't full of whole chips. No tiny pieces from the bottom of the barrel. The salsa is amazing. I always order extra to drench my meal in. Literally the best salsa ever. The food is always delish! The Quesadilla Loco, Fajitas, Enchiladas, etc. They are all amazing! They have an awesome bar selection, too. Great beer selection! We had a great experience last night. Our server was SO friendly and check on us often to make sure we didn't need refills or more chips/salsa. We have yet to have a bad experience and we always have a great meal!

Awesome food, friendly staff, fun atmosphere. I looove the southwest chimichanga. Great flavor and the cheese sauce is sooo good. My absolute favorite. Fried ice cream is yummy too. I've been coming here for a few years and I've never been dissapointed.

Wow! While driving down Alpine my room mate and I were doing our very best to resist settling for Qdoba as our lunch spot. We were feeling like something Latin, but with a bit more WHAM than The Q. As we rolled north the dining options quickly started to disappear. Knowing that we were reaching the end of the civilized part of Alpine Ave and not wanting to eat lunch at Westgate Bowl we started to get very nervous. "Does Menards have food?" He asked. It was at this point that we looked up and saw El Burrito. We B-Lined (or is it bee lined?) across 3 lanes of traffic, causing a wreck in our wake. Over the grassy knoll and landed squarely in front of El Burrito. Don't worry our vehicle didn't sustain any damage. We went inside quick to lose ourselves in the Saturday afternoon crowd. We were provided a substantial menu, detailing all of the delights on offer. I settled on the Fajita Quesadilla and my fellow Bon vivant had the burrito ranchero. Wow! Wow! Wow! As connoisseurs of the cuisine de Mexicana we were stunned. This is not some run of the mill chain Mexican joint. The attention to detail (how finely the onions/peppers inside the wrap) was immaculate. Everything was just perfect! Flavorful but not overly so. The portions are enough to make you blush. Or feel really full. But wait. Then there's dessert! We ordered the Xango, not because we were hungry. We were stuffed. We just wanted to be able to leave a circumspect yelp review. We're waiting on the dessert now. So please hold. I am too overcome to comment further. After the desserts I am sitting in a pool of my own tears. Tears caused by joy and jubilation. ORDER THE XANGO!

Yelp reviews have come thru again. We came here based on the Yelp reviews. The salsa & chips were excellent. The waiter gave us both red and green salsa. I had a wet burrito and Maria had menudo. They were both very good. I had a 32 oz draft Dos XX beer. It was on special for $4.

Second time here and 4 stars for service of taking my order...I think they forgot about me. After that the great food came out fast and service was great. I will continue to come back for the food. Not one of the cheaper Mexican places to eat, but food is great and portions are large.

I ate here one cold night in Grand Rapids while I was in town for business and staying at the nearby Hampton Inn (reviewed here on Yelp). I was driving down that main road that El Burrito is on and trying to figure out what the heck I was going to eat while on the phone with my wife. It had already been a fairly Mexican-intensive trip, with dinner the night before at Q-Doba and lunch that day at the Taco Bell. But for whatever reason my mouth and my stomach told me to pull in to El Burrito's parking lot ... and I'm glad they did. I grew up in Southern California, went to college in Arizona and now live in Dallas, so it's fair to say I've eaten some Mexican food in my day. I had low expectations given my assumption that the Mexican in Michigan wouldn't be "authentic." I was flat wrong. El Burrito is the real deal. The chips and salsa are great. Chips clearly made in house - not purchased from some food distributor. Salsa seemed to be too. Very, very tasty. I had a very large burrito filled with beef tips that came smothered in a red enchilada sauce. It was freaking DELICIOUS! It transported me back in time to South Tucson in my college days. The staff was super friendly too. All in all, a VERY satisfying experience. I highly recommend it.

This is place is exactly what you want when you crave Mexican. The salsa was excellent (cilantro, a little kick, pepper, yum!)! Chips were ample and tasty. We had the grilled chicken quesadilla and it was AMAZING. Best I've ever had (Was it the cheese?! Was it magic?! I don't know!). Loved that they gave me an option of small or large. Beef chimichanga was good as well (huge platter, could serve two). Service was fast. Priced right. Loved the interesting decor, paintings, and carved chairs. Very cool. Will be back!!

The food is ok. I don't recommend the nachos locos - they have a funny taste like medicine - very scary. I was overcharged for my order. Apparently, this is common for this and other chains - they overcharge each customer a couple bucks and at the end of the day walk home with an extra $50-$200 in their pocket....so make sure you tally up your food cost, unless you don't mind giving them an extra couple bucks!

Food is excellent but wait time was very slow. Took a long time to get food out. The burrito I had was very good. I would recommend this place

The service was friendly but sadly the carne asada tacos I ordered were very dry. At checkout I informed the Manager and she offered to let me order something else to take home. Her offer was appreciated although not taken.

Been here a couple of times and always have been fairly impressed. Good chips with excellent hot salsa, the mild is good too but I like it spicy. Draft beer selection is standard, nothing special. Good service with friendly staff. I had the Fajita Burrito with chicken and loved it! The cheese sauce on top and the grilled veggies make this burrito. Huge menu to chose from with some nice authentic options. Worth a visit any time your in the mood for excellent Mexican food while shopping on Alpine.

The food was awesome. I had the enchiladas verdes and my girlfriend had the Chimichanga meal. Our food was delicous and came out fast and hot. I couldn't stop picking at my leftovers, so... no leftovers. The chips and salsa are great, the hostesss was very helpful, but our waitress was not the best. Some how our lunch bill came to $66 dollars. The hostess promptly corrected the error. I am excited to go back because they have an extensive menu and there is much more that I would like to try.

I give this place 3 1/2 stars. They are a solid mexican option for those who want to stop in while shopping on Alpine. I don't have a lot to say other than I've always enjoyed my food and the service is, well, authentic. If you're looking for a place that is pretty standard with decent food, I say stop in. Recommended.

i love the food here! seems a little food chain-ey at first but the fare is totally worth the kitch. chicken chimichangas are amazing! great prices, great food. love the fresh chips and salsa! this was a great place to get some eats while our tires were getting done across the street at discount tire. missing the 5th star because they took forever to get our drink order and they overcharged on our bill (we got it fixed but it said we owed $60 for two lunches and two drinks!)

Excellent service. The waiter gave honest opinions of what was good and not so good. Ambience was nice. The beer was freakin huge, I mean two handed huge. The mucho grande burrito was very good and big enough to satisfy even the most ginormous of appetites.

Took my Mom there for Mothers Day, and we really enjoyed it. The service was outstanding, and the food was even better. I had the fish tacos and they were the best I've had since Mexico. She had the taco salad and can't wait to go back.

I've seen their sign from E. Beltline a hundred times but always thought they looked like "just-another-crappy" Tex-Mex place. We stopped to get sandwiches at Quizno's one day, however, and saw through the glass that it was decorated somewhat nicely and decided to give it a try. I had the a la carte Chile Relleno ($3.75) and a side of black beans ($2). The Chile Relleno was about the size of my fist and the bowl of beans was fairly huge. Also, the Dos Equis draft was (I think) 24 oz. for $4. So the prices are good! Service was friendly but not overbearing, we were greeted as "amigos." The Chile Relleno was good, a fairly traditional Tex-Mex preparation (hand battered and stuffed with ground beef and cheese). The beans were great too, very similar to some I had while in Guadalajara, Mex. Our second visit we got the same server, again greeted as "amigos." He was attentive and friendly - again - and I tried some tequila this trip (El Tesoro de Don Felipe, a fave) and their tequila prices are also very reasonable. I had the pork burritos with salsa verde and spanish rice. They were okay, but the pork was kind of dry and over-cooked. The sauce was delicious - jalapeno and cilantro with tomatillo - but just a hair spicy for the average eater, I'd say. Their dishes are much more varied than Little Mexico (my fave GR Mexican spot) with several traditional entrees beyond Burritos, etc. I will definitely try them a few more times until I find my favorite dish there

The dishes are a little bit bland and the produce doesn't seem very fresh. However I'm waiting for a great mexican restaurant in the GR area. I would love to be blown away by flavor when I eat mexican food because the flavors CAN be so good! Maybe it'll improve.

El Burrito serves fresh, authentic Mexican dishes with true homemade feel. The selection is huge and portions are hearty. Their food seems healthier than many Mexican restaurants as they don't drown things in cheese. Smaller portions are available. The food is delicious and service is friendly and charming.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
